Who is caring for
the caretakers?
I'm LaTonya Demps, LCSW —
Working with organizations, and communities internationally.
Internal Family Systems Lead Trainer, organizational consultant, coach, and licensed therapist.
One of few practitioners working at the intersection of clinical IFS depth, organizational consulting, and curriculum design. For over a decade, I've supported the people everyone else relies on — therapists and coaches running on empty, leaders carrying their teams, the ones still showing up even when nothing's left.

Years of Practice
I know what it feels like to be everyone's rock — the one who always shows up, listens, and carries others through their storms while struggling beneath your own carefully maintained surface.
Years ago, I wore that same mask, appearing to have it all together while feeling overwhelmed and isolated inside. That journey of learning to take up space and find my authentic voice is what led me here.
I came to this work asking a question that has never fully left me, who’s caring for the caretakers?

I'm a Helper or Healer
Running on empty? Programs and consultation built for the people who tend to everyone else — therapists, coaches, healers, and trainers.
I Lead an Organization
Burnout, wellness, and belonging work for organizations ready to treat communal care as infrastructure — not a perk.
I'm Planning an Event
Book LaTonya for keynotes, workshops, and trainings on burnout, grief, IFS, and communal care that move an audience.
- The Thesis
Healing Happens in Communion
Most of us were taught to handle our pain privately. To be the strong one. The helper. The rock. To metabolize what's heavy on our own and present what's polished to the world.
That model is breaking us. The therapists are exhausted. The leaders are burning out. The healers are running on empty.
My work operates from a different premise: that healing is something we do together — not as a metaphor, but as a methodology.
From caretaking → to communal care.
- A short manifested
What I Believe
We don't heal in isolation. We heal in connection — with ourselves, with each other, with the people who came before us.
Caretaking is not the same as care. One pours from a finite cup. The other is built into how we live.
You were born noble, with inherent dignity and worth. The work is helping you remember.
Burnout is not a personal failing. It's what happens when systems take more than they give.
Empathy without communal infrastructure is unsustainable. We need both.
Another heartbeat in the room can be the medicine. Sometimes presence is the whole intervention.
The legacy and cultural burdens we carry were never ours alone — and were never ours to carry alone.
