— About LaTonya

Therapist. Trainer.

Thought Leader.

For more than fifteen years, my work has lived at the intersection of clinical practice, training, and systemic change. I help individuals, organizations, and communities create the conditions where healing becomes a shared practice rather than a solitary struggle.

YEAR OF PRACTICE

My Story

I came to this work asking a question that has never fully left me — Who is caring for the caretakers?

I am LaTonya Demps — therapist, IFS Lead Trainer, organizational consultant, coach, and the founder of Collective Wellness Counseling and Consulting. My work spans clients and partners across the United States and internationally, with an office in Lansing, Michigan.

I came to this work asking a question: Who is caring for the caretakers? It's the question I sat with as I watched my mother and grandmother serve as pillars of community advocacy. It's the question I carried through fifteen years of clinical practice.

I know what it feels like to be everyone's rock — the one who always shows up, listens, and carries others through their storms while struggling beneath your own carefully maintained surface. That journey of learning to take up space and find my authentic voice is what led me here.

"I am because we are."
How I Work

Evidence-based. Relationally rooted. Systemically aware.

I bring evidence-based methods — IFS, EMDR, IFIO, EFT — together with a relational, culturally responsive lens and a deep commitment to systemic understanding. Burnout isn't a personal failing. Grief isn't a problem to solve.

I'm currently a Lead Trainer with the Internal Family Systems Institute, where I co-lead The Self-Led Coach — the IFS Institute's official introduction to parts work for coaches.

Beyond the Work

I live in Michigan with my husband, David, and our son. I love sunlight, nature, fiction novels, hammock time, travel, and laughter. I believe that the story of a life well-lived is one of the most important things we can offer back to the world.
